I've made our bread for the next few days and we eat a loaf between us every day. I pay 65p for a bag of bread flour and 65p for 6 sachets of yeast. My bread costs me 15p and there's no where you can buy a handmade loaf for that. I also went to Trago today to price up wood for our new raised beds and to look around the garden centre. We didn't spend any money but now have a good idea of the amount we need to put aside to do this. We did get deafened by the River Fowey as it thundered past Trago Mills today and even in the depths of winter, it is a lovely sight.

This week's bread

Trago Mills...
This is a blast from the past for me. I used to visit the one near Newton Abbot, when I lived in Devon at the end of the 1970s.
I seem to recall that they were pioneers of the Sunday trading revolution, so it's good to see that they're still going strong.
Please don't buy wood to make raised beds, look at free alternatives first. If your car is big enough ask for pallets, if not ask a friend with a big car or van to help.
i am still buying bread even though we have a bread maker, do you have a good recipe as the one we have came with the breadmaker and i dont like it so much. Your look scrummy.
Hey Frugal Queen thanks for your tips on my blog, seems like I finally have some headspace for Me now, starting to feel settled in new home at last.
Your coffee envy reminds me of me around 6 months ago but *after* I had stopped being envious, as I realized each person had spent around £3 for theirs, and I had spent pennies... making mine at home! Love that you have been so good with the bread and also the pots. You inspired me to keep a yoghurt pot yesterday in preparation for spring... at least it's a start in our new (scary) garden! x

1 cup of warm water
3 cups of bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon marg
