Quick, simple and cheap quilting.

All from thrifted fabric. I did buy the yellow fabric from an ebay auction and bought  two metres for  £7. The rest is shirts and fabric from the charity shop.
 Hello Dear Reader,

Here's a quilt that I'm working on and helping someone to make. They did the larger share of this and I finished off the sashing tonight. I'll carry on helping that person by showing them how to baste, back and then sew the quilt layers together. It's just a small quilt as it's the first project for the person I'm helping. They'll keep the finished article and I'll try and photograph it before they take it home. I made the jelly roll strips myself, sewed the three strips together and cut afterwards. It makes a very simple design and a few other jelly roll strips will form the basting.

This is the basis of what my quilting work shop folks will do with me on the 23rd of June, which is only two weeks away. I'm really looking forward to a very girlie day of sewing, chatting and tea drinking! It will almost be like a sober hen party, I'm sure we're going to have such a laugh.

Experimenting with pattern....I prefer the bottom half, the person I'm helping preferred the top. I like the basket weave effect at the bottom.
My apologies for the basket full of dry laundry. On wet days, I place the clothes stand in the summer house (a shed will do) and the sun dried the clothes in there. It's been dry for the biggest part of the day and the summer house also get really hot, which helps the clothes to dry. I would also like to point out that DB is fully clothed behind the quilt front he is modelling! Just the bare bits are sticking out! I hang washing in the shed before I go to work; I don't hang is out when the weather forecast is unpredictable.

My happy band of quilters will get to make a larger version of this quilt design. They will cut, sew, will baste it, back it, quilt it and edge it, all in one day...............in a kind of production line/takey turney kind of make it between us. A name will be drawn out of something hattish at the end of the day and that person will take it home!

Tomorrow, I'll help someone baste this quilt and on another day, they'll get to quilt it. It's a great little first project for a beginner!

Until tomorrow,

Love Froogs xxxxx

  3. I am just about to go and find out about quilting. Something I have never done and it sounds fascinating. I would book for your class if I lived nearer. Anyway, after Thursday I will know what it is all about. There seem to be so many of you lovely bloggers who do this and make such beautiful quilts. I can't wait to be one of you. Ann x
