Shut away but busy

Hello Dear Reader,

Thank you to the  many daily visitors and your kind words. I've locked myself away today and hidden from the physical and metaphorical storms.

I'm purposefully keeping busy. I've glued and clamped a wonky chair leg and it's as good as new.

I've quilted more of the quilt with bubbly circles - I will get there eventually.

I used up the last of the shower gel I bought in France, so I've been eeking out the same bottle since the beginning of June.

I used some lovely gifted bubble bath to refill it and I think I've got about a year's supply in that huge bottle. I don't have baths and this worked just as well in my four minute shower this morning.

I cut out a pattern for a bag that I've had for months and months.

I cut out the vintage fabric I've been accumulating to make the bags.

Here's the 60's paisley with vintage table cloth trim and old gingham lining. All bought from jumble sales and charity shops. It cost me £1 to make this bag.

You can have a close up of the lining and trim.

I made this bag with some of the tablecloth I bought in a jumble sale, the lining is an old table cloth from Oxfam and the trim is the remnants of a vintage sheet which I bought from the Sally Army charity shop. I've just the rest to back a quilt.

Here's the lining of the second bag. One is for my mum and the paisley is for my daughter.

Here they both are together.

Sometimes when life doesn't go the way we want it to, we can just ignore it and lock ourselves away. I keep busy as this feeling will pass and in the meantime, the house will be spotless and I'll get lots of jobs done!!

Until tomorrow,

Love Froogs xxxxxxxx

  15. It shows great strength of character to quilt and clean under stress. So much easier to curl up in a ball and rock... you really are an inspiration. There are days when I think I am too overwhelmed to do anything constructive, and then I think, no, on the other side of the world there is a woman who right now is sewing or gardening or cooking dinner, no matter what life throws at her. It helps, so thankyou.

  23. Glad you're back :) It's sometimes difficult to keep busy when our lives are unsettled. I tend to be more lazy at those times so I envy your outlook and to "press on".

    Love the bags :)

  24. I am so glad you have some time and space to move away from problems and troubles. You have a very good plan in place to deal with this. I always tell my kids there is nothing better than work when things aren't going well. You are in my prayers. I know it doesn't help, but I have been there. I met a lady once that had four kids like I did, three boys and the youngest a girl, the same span of ages (four kids in five years), only hers were 10 years older than mine. I stood there and cried. She must have thought I was nuts but I told her "You're still here and you aren't crazy!" It gave me such hope.

  27. There's something about working hard to bring order and harmony to our immediate environment that seems to really help a person to deal with the other things that we have to cope with outside our control.

Always encouraging when you can start to see the darker clouds dispersing...

    Fab bags!
