Friday's child

Hello my darling girl,

You were born twenty years ago today at 6.30 in the morning and you weighed only 6lbs. You were early and had been due on Boxing Day but you weren't going to wait any longer. You came home with us a few hours later and a startled, very much bigger, half brother came down the stairs to have his tiny little sister placed in his arms. You utterly captivated everyone you ever met and after three boys, your dad still hasn't really got over having a daughter.

You were born and still are an incredible person. You were born with your boots on and have always been an unstoppable force.

You were always the child who had no fears, were never nervous and always stood your ground. You have become the adult version of the child you were and face this world with the determination that you can and do conquer what ever it throws at you.

You have grown into a woman who I truly admire, respect and I'm so proud that I ever had anything to do with you. I love your value of humans and humanity, that you are compassionate, you forgive easily, your loyalty, your refusal to conform to gender stereotypes when the world wants passive high heeled plastic girlies and most of all your courage in facing prejudice and resolutely being yourself.

You have risen phoenix like from a truly dark and frightening place and have emerged heat toughened but still beautiful. You truly are Friday's child...........loving and giving and this earth is a better place for having you here.

Love Mum xxxxxx

  27. I too am a Friday's child and have experienced some of the difficulties you have previously described for your daughter! I now believe it's because I feel empathy and as opposed to seeing this super sensitivity as a fault I now see it as a gift which enables me to know what help is required. It took me a long time to get to this stage but I got there in the end! It does not make for an easy life as your dear girl has already found out but does bring its own rewards. God bless her, she's a beautiful girl outside and in!
