Hello Dear Reader,
I am feeling totally chuffed with myself! A couple of nights baking and I have a considerable donations without any great costs to myself. I gave my time willingly and resisted any desires to eat most of the cakes and cookies myself! I made a dozen lemon drizzle cup cakes which are just the most unctuous and decadent things that I could eat one right now if I hadn't packaged them up to donate.
I took my life in my hands today and got in amongst the shoppers in Poundland! My goodness it was busy! I couldn't find the end of the queue and thought it was the start of a conga competition! I found the loveliest food wrapping bags which are just big enough for a few cookies or just a couple of cakes. They were £1 for 20 with little red ribbons. I also found 30 glitzy gold labels for £1 and 100 sticky labels for £1. It is extremely good value and just right for gift wrap.
I made a dozen coffee and walnut cupcakes and dusted them with icing sugar. No massive cost but they are lovely. I shall buy two back for DB!
Here is my final donation and it's off to a good cause. If anyone knows of any other fund raising events near to me that need some cakes, leave me a comment and let me know and I'll be glad to donate some there too!
Over to you Dear Reader, are any of you fund raising at this charitable time of year. What are you up to? Are you baking or crafting for the church bazaar or play group Christmas Fayre? Let me know as I love hearing about what you are up to.
Tomorrow, I have a review of something that would make a great present at a lowish cost and I will be getting ready for a weekend of sewing for beginners.
Until then,
Love Froogs xxxx
We are bell ringing for the Salvation Army next Saturday - 1 hour stretch. We also donated 6 hours of hubbys time (he is self employed consultant) to charity and they raised $600 in an auction.
ReplyDeleteThat all looks so good! Making me hungry ;-)
ReplyDeleteMaking thousands of mince pies for our Church Carol Service!
ReplyDeleteThe little bags look great, I'm not sure I'm brave enough to cope with Poundland, it's always packed.
Not fundraising but our church have done a Christmas project donating goods to the towns Homeless Project. I crocheted 16 adult hats and 4 scarves. All made with wool donated by a friend. It cost me absolutely nothing and I could make two hats every day so not even too much of my time. It's been really cold here and I am glad we could help some people with some comfort and warmth.
ReplyDeleteWow Froogs that all looks so delicious! I'm not doing any cooking for donations but am helping out at a fundraising stall on Saturday December 15. The stall is raising funds for a school that my friend has built (well she didn't build it personally but has raised the funds for it with a group of people) in Tanzania. I sponsor one of the girls at the school but this is the first time I've been able to donate my time as well. Yay. Looking forward to it! Cheers Judy xx
ReplyDeleteThere were cakes left over from our Scout Fayre so I took them into work and am raising more money. There's lots of greedy peeps in the NHS. After Christmas remaining bric a brac will be car booted x
ReplyDeleteWow, everything you made looks fantastic! Love the packaging too.

Yes, have been baking today as well. Ten dozen mince pies and a double batch of Twink's hobnobs so far. We have a church stall selling cakes at the village bazaar on Sunday afternoon, so I still plan to make a few more things, but probably not until Saturday afternoon - some of your lemon buns perhaps - they look gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI bake weekly for an event and all my cake money is donated to my local animal charity! The sanctuary never puts a healthy animal down so need all the support they can get!
ReplyDeleteYou have been very generous with time, effort, talent, and money. This is truly the spirit of Christmas. Your halo is definitely bright.
ReplyDeleteMy Christmas efforts are much simpler. I am singing at two functions next week for non-profit organisations. Much time and effort goes into practising, dressing up, and ensuring the functions run smoothly.
On the cooking-for-sale thing - we have massive regulations here about selling food. The kitchens must be inspected every two years and meet the Health Department standard. I do not wash my kitchen floor every day so I would not pass the test.
They look absolutely fantastic. It just goes to show what can be done without spending a fortune.
ReplyDeleteWell done!!! wow, thats all I can say lol!!!! Alliexx
ReplyDeleteThese look fab and if they are not snapped up in an instant I will pickle my walnuts! Well done.
ReplyDeleteHi Froogs ,all your baking looks wondefully yummy and beautifully presented. I'm sure it will sell well.
ReplyDeleteVery frugally generous....perfect . We have baked for school fairs and helped out too.

What yummy cakes, especially the coffee walnut ones. Where the walnuts expensive? I cannot seem to find them for a reasonable price. I recieved my package containing Mr Elephanto and friends this morning and they are beautiful, so kind of you Froogs, you have cheered up a very fed up Grandma today. Im sure my Grandson will adore his Christmas present.
ReplyDeleteI am helping out with PTFA fundraising. The children are first encouraged to enter a competition to design a Christmas cake (20p to enter). Then I choose a winner (still deliberating on this years entries), produce said design, which will be raffled at the school Christmas fair. trouble is, I am having great difficulty picking a winner!!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I would have been able to donate all of those lovely cakes. I KNOW I would have tasted a few!
